Redskins Make RG3 Play Safety In Practice

Robert Griffin Jersey

From potential franchise quarterback to backup safety in practice, it’s been a mighty fall for Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III.

Not that long ago, RG3 was viewed by many in the NFL to be one of the NFL’s best and youngest stars. But a series of injuries and questionable coaches have all but derailed such, leaving RGIII on the bench behind Kirk Cousins.

But that’s not even the worst of his problems, but this past week, before the Washington Redskins open their season, the team had RG3 playing safety during practice.

That’s right, RGIII was handling duties in the secondary.

Per NFL.com:

That question became especially difficult to answer this week based on occurrences during practices when Griffin, according to multiple team sources, was running with the scout team defense as a safety. Yes … a safety.

Now, we’ve seen football players in the past play out of position during practice before due to injury. And we’ve also seen a positonal player take over the quarterback role to game plan for a specific type of talent, but a quarterback being shifted onto the defensive side of the ball?

Yikes.
