Redskins Coach Jay Gruden Wants Rid Of Robert Griffin III?

Robert Griffin Jersey

The Washington Redskins have already named Robert Griffin III their starting quarterback for the 2015 season (they actually did so last month, oddly) so it appears as if the signal caller will be with the franchise moving forward.

If head coach Jay Gruden had his way though, RGIII would be long gone.

That’s the feeling from ESPN Redskins reporter John Keim who says he thinks Gruden wants little to do with Griffin and would have parted ways with the quarterback if the decision was his.

Of course, the decision isn’t his which is why RGIII is still on the Washington Redskins roster.

If it were up to the coach, Griffin would be gone. The owner, it appears, wants to keep him around another year. Griffin does not have a ton of supporters on the football side as far as feeling he can become the sort of franchise quarterback they once envisioned. So, no, I don’t think they’re on the same page. Not saying Jay Gruden is right or wrong in his assessment, just that they differ.

In regards to a potential RGIII trade, Keim doesn’t say it’s impossible though hints it to be rather unlikely as the Redskins would likely command another quarterback in return for Robert Griffin III.
