Randall Cobb Seeking Massive Contract From Packers

If Randall Cobb is to return to the Frozen Tundra next season, the Green Bay Packers are going to need to pay the wide receiver.

That’s because the 24-year-old is said to be seeking a contract that pays him around $9 million dollars annually. If he is to get such, he’d be one of the highest paid wideout’s in the NFL, next to teammate Jordy Nelson who is getting a hefty $9.75 million per year (on average).

Keep in mind, Victor Cruz of the New York Giants makes $7.6 million while DeSean Jackson makes $8 million, so it’s fair market value for Randall Cobb but will the Green Bay Packers be willing to pony up that much cash?

Indications are that Cobb is seeking a deal that averages in the $9 million per year range. That would come close to the four-year, $39 million contract extension the Packers gave receiver Jordy Nelson last summer.

It’s unclear how far talks have progressed, if they have at all, between the Packers and Cobb’s agent, Jimmy Sexton. Sexton did not return a message left Monday. The two sides likely will meet later this week at the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis.

There’s no denying that Randall Cobb is worth that type of coin, though the Green Bay Packers have a lot of talented players making hefty dollars already (Aaron Rodgers, etc) or others that will need to be paid in the coming years.

Should be an interesting offseason for the Packers, no doubt.
