Peyton Manning Being Forced Out By Denver Broncos?

Could Peyton Manning have played his last game with the Denver Broncos? It seems odd to push out a Hall of Fame talent, even at Manning’s age, but there is a belief among some in the NFL that John Elway has had enough of Manning’s playoff struggles and wants a change.

“Talking to other general managers around the league, they wonder if Elway is engineering it so Peyton Manning doesn’t come back,” Ian Rapoport said Sunday. “He took away his head coach and offensive coordinator. He’s going to bring in a head coach whose system doesn’t really fit. It’s worth wondering.”

At this point it appears to be namely speculation and piecing the said puzzle together, though it’s certainly a little odd to see such wholesale changes for a team who routinely has been among the NFL’s elite with Peyton Manning under center.

For what it’s worth, Rapoport does go on to suggest that Manning wasn’t shocked to see Elway making moves after the Denver Broncos failed yet again in the playoffs. Still, it seems difficult to believe that Peyton Manning will be run out of town as the Broncos don’t exactly have a readily available replacement waiting in the wings and making such a move is an obvious (and rather large) step backwards.
