Pete Carroll Cried Over Seahawks’ Super Bowl Loss

Pete Carroll

It appears Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll might have been the only person in the world (outside of his offensive coordinator) who felt passing the ball from the one-yard line with the Super Bowl hanging in the balance was a good decision.

Most in his shoes would have handed the ball off to Marshawn Lynch, who effectively has made his name for his ability to drive through opposing defenses. But no, Carroll decided to give Russell Wilson the chance to throw the game-winning touchdown which of course ended in a interception and Super Bowl loss.

Now Pete Carroll cried over the decision as he told NBC’s Matt Lauer in a sit down interview for ‘Today’.

Per TMZ:

“I never make a call thinking it’s gonna go bad,” Carroll said … “This was properly planned. It just didn’t turn out well.”

As for the tears, Carroll says he was hit with a wave of emotion around 4:05 AM the next day … and just let the waterworks go.

So does he regret the call? The Seattle Seahawks head coach wouldn’t go that far as he says the play would have been perfect had it worked out as they expected, though says he does admit it was the ‘worst result’ of a call ever.

Really going out on a limb there.
