NFL Rumors: Michael Crabtree Rejects Miami Dolphins Contract

Michael Crabtree

The Miami Dolphins could use some help at wide receiver, which is why they reached out to Michael Crabtree. Apparently, they weren’t willing to pony up enough cash for the former San Francisco 49ers wideout though as he declined their contract offer.

According to the Miami Herald, the Dolphins offered Crabtree a one-year deal worth about $3 million dollars. That wasn’t enough for the one-time Texas Tech product, who is apparently set to meet with the Oakland Raiders who could have more money at their disposal.

We’re told the Dolphins were willing to pay Michael Crabtree close to $3 million next season, but he wanted at least $4.5 million. He’s visiting Oakland this week, according to Yahoo.

The Miami Dolphins offer wasn’t exactly bad, but it seems plausible that Michael Crabtree could get a bigger offer if he doesn’t mind playing on a worse team.

Perhaps the most shocking scenario is that Crabtree, still without a job, is now being regulated to sifting through one-year contract offers. Keep in mind, this was a guy who essentially left the San Francisco 49ers because they wouldn’t pay him like a top wide receiver – something he believes himself to be.

For what it’s worth, the 49ers haven’t completely shut the door on a Crabtree return though it seems unlikely he’d return, especially if the Raiders make an offer.
