NFL Rumors: Browns To Target Marcus Mariota Or Sam Bradford?

Sorry Johnny Manziel, but your short stint as the Cleveland Browns quarterback of the future might be over before it actually begins. That’s because the Browns could be looking to add an additional signal caller to the mix, possibly either Marcus Mariota or Sam Bradford.

That’s the word from Mary Kay Cabot who says Cleveland isn’t exactly thrilled with their current situation and could look to make a move.

It’s unlikely whomever they nab will be their starting quarterback this season though as they’re committed to Josh McCown for the 2015 season.

I think the Browns are fully prepared to start McCown this year, but they will continue to look for chances to upgrade the position. I think they’ll try to trade up to draft Marcus Mariota, and I also think they could make another run at Sam Bradford on draft day. If they don’t land one of those two, I do think McCown will be their man in 2015. They are also big on Connor Shaw, who could start games for them this season if necessary. As for Manziel, they’ll see what happens when he gets out of rehab soon. At this point, I don’t think they can get much in a trade. Maybe Jerry Jones is still interested.

Nobody knows exactly what the Philadelphia Eagles plan to do with Sam Bradford, whom they acquired from the St. Louis Rams in a trade last month. NFL rumors have swirled suggesting they could attempt to flip him and if that’s the case, the Cleveland Browns apparently have interest.
