NFL Rumors: Bears Could Trade Jay Cutler To Titans?

Jay Cutler

The Tennessee Titans need a quarterback, this much we know. But is Jay Cutler the answer? You really wouldn’t think so, though the former Vanderbilt star is continuing to hear his name in the rumor mill.

Today is no different as Bleacher Report’s Jason Cole reports the Chicago Bears are interested in drafting Marcus Mariota. The only problem? It’s likely the Oregon quarterback will be drafted before the Bears pick comes up.

That has lead to speculation that the Chicago Bears could attempt to trade Jay Cutler, likely with their No. 7 overall pick to the Tennessee Titans in exchange for the No. 2 pick which would allow them to draft Marcus Mariota.

At this point, it seems to be a bit of wishful thinking, at least for Bears fans. Simply put, Jay Cutler isn’t a very good quarterback. He’s adequate, but he’s not going to turn a franchise around and the money owed to him is mildly absurd.

Given that, it seems rather suspect that the Titans would be okay moving down in the draft simply to add Jay Cutler and his salary.

Now, it’s possible the Titans would be willing to move down just because they’re not interested in Marcus Mariota, but it’s hard to believe they’re interested in Jay Cutler, Tennessee ties and all.
