New York Jets Likely To Cut Percy Harvin?

Percy Harvin

As a member of the Minnesota Vikings, Percy Harvin looked as if he had all the tools necessary to be an impact player in the NFL. That’s why so many were floored when he was traded to the Seattle Seahawks. Yet Harvin continued to disappoint which eventually lead to a trade to the New York Jets earlier this season.

That marriage hasn’t exactly been great either and it’s possible New York’s new general manger, Mike Maccagnan, will cut Percy Harvin in the coming weeks/months in effort to avoid dropping in the draft.

When the Jets acquired Harvin, it was stated that if the wide receiver was still on New York’s roster in 2015 that their 6th round draft pick traded to the Seattle Seahawks would become a 4th round pick. That’s a hefty price to pay for an injury prone and problematic player, which is why ESPN New York thinks Percy Harvin will be given his walking papers.

There’s a considerable difference between a fourth-round pick and a sixth-rounder, and I can’t see Mike Maccagnan, a former scout who treasures draft picks, signing off on the upgrade for an overpriced receiver.

While very talented, Harvin has yet to put all the pieces of his NFL puzzle together and it doesn’t look as if he’ll ever be able to do so at the point – especially if Geno Smith stays under center for the New York Jets.
