Michael Irvin: Dallas Cowboys May Explode Without DeMarco Murray

DeMarco Murray

There’s no denying that DeMarco Murray was a special piece of the Dallas Cowboys franchise last season (and for years prior). I mean, he did break the Dallas Cowboys single season rushing record and that’s can’t be devalued.

That said, running back’s have proven to be a replaceable commodity within the NFL, especially over the past decade, which is probably part of the reason Jerry Jones and company decided to let DeMarco Murray sign with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Former Cowboys legend and ESPN analyst Michael Irvin can’t help but think such a move could be disaster in Big D though as he told SportsDayDFW:

Irvin said Murray was Dez Bryant’s best friend and told Bryant to calm down, he was going to get paid. Now, Irvin said Murray is gone and he’s worried the “whole ship is going to explode.”

Part of the reason Murray was so effective, especially last season, was the very talented Dallas Cowboys offensive line. That hasn’t changed and whomever is lined up behind Tony Romo this season at running back will be reaping the same benefits.

Again, that’s not to diminish what DeMarco Murray did, but it also might be a little too early to be smashing the panic button as well.
