Madden 16 Cover: Odell Beckham Jr Beats Rob Gronkowski

Madden 16 Cover Odell Beckham

You’d think that in a popularity contest, few football players would be able to compete with New England Patriots star tight end Rob Gronkowski. And while that technically holds true, considering guys like Antonio Brown and Patrick Peterson lost out to Gronk for the Madden 16 cover vote, there was one player Gronkowski couldn’t beat out.

New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. who was named the Madden 16 cover athlete.

Both Gronk and Beckham had been vying for the spot and were pitted against each other in a fan vote, but it was the Pro Bowl wideout who came away with the narrow victory.

According to the final results, Odell Beckham pulled in 52 percent of the tallies, just edging out Gronkowski. Of course, the Patriots tight end might be kind of happy that he didn’t win the vote considering the long believed ‘Madden Curse’ which has haunted players over the past decade who’ve appeared on the Madden cover.

Of course, Beckham is coming off a horrific injury which he suffered last season so perhaps his ‘curse’ struck before the actual Madden 16 cover.

I guess there was no love for Tom Brady or Eli Manning this year for the video game, eh?

Those silly quarterbacks – tainting the league with their shenanigans.
