LeSean McCoy Suggests Chip Kelly Is Racist

LeSean McCoy

I’m not going to put words in the mouth of former Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy, but I’m going to assume he’s taking a racial shot at former head coach Chip Kelly in his most recent interview with ESPN The Magazine.

McCoy was one of a handful of talented Philadelphia Eagles football players shipped out this offseason, but the new Buffalo Bills running back noticed something odd about all the moves.

He thinks every single one involved the Eagles trading/releasing an African American.

You told The Philadelphia Inquirer in April that Chip doesn’t “like or respect stars.” What was the problem with you and Chip, and how did that relationship end?

The relationship was never really great. I feel like I always respected him as a coach. I think that’s the way he runs his team. He wants the full control. You see how fast he got rid of all the good players. Especially all the good black players. He got rid of them the fastest. That’s the truth. There’s a reason. … It’s hard to explain with him. But there’s a reason he got rid of all the black players — the good ones — like that.

I guess he forgot about trading Nick Foles.

Either way, that’s a really strong suggestion on the part of LeSean McCoy and one that isn’t likely going to die down anytime soon. I’m not sure if he knew what he was accusing Chip Kelly of when he suggested that, and he’s likely to backtrack given the gravity of such, but this has all the makings of one ugly fight.
