As a professional sports team, you hang a banner for only a couple of reasons.
Either you’re retiring a jersey or you’re commemorating a special moment for the franchise, say like a World Championship. But if you’re the Indianapolis Colts, you seemingly take a shot at the NFL and hang a ‘2014 AFC Finalist’ banner.
Granted, there’s plenty of reason to be proud if you’re Andrew Luck and the Colts to have an appearance in a conference title game. You’re one of the two best teams in your conference, so patting yourself on the back is justified. Though hanging a banner in a spot usually reserved for a Super Bowl victory?
That’s a little tacky, though, as stated above, it’s likely more of a shot towards the NFL, New England Patriots and Tom Brady more than anything.

This obviously isn’t the first time the Indianapolis Colts have made the AFC title game and they’ve not hung any banners commemorating such before, so I guess this is their way of protesting the whole ‘Deflategate’ debacle. Yes, there are banners for winning a division, but the Colts aren’t alone in doing such.
It certainly has people talking, either way.
