The Seattle Seahawks looked like an unstoppable force last season en route to their Super Bowl victory, but behind the scenes things were far less peachy. From alleged rumors of Golden Tate having sex with Russell Wilson‘s wife to a fight between he and Percy Harvin, it was quite the soap opera in the locker room – or so said the rumor mill.
Now Tate, a member of the Detroit Lions, wants to set the record straight as he says he did not sleep with Wilson’s wife nor did his actions (or lack of in this case) result in their eventual divorce.
“I did not have an affair with Russell Wilson’s wife, nor did I have anything to do with his divorce,” stated Tate.
“That is laughable for anyone who knows us. His ex-wife, Ashton, is still best friends with my girlfriend.”
The sentiment seemed rather outlandish even at the time, though understandably the rumors were eaten alive. Add in that a player sleeping with another players significant other isn’t unheard of and it was easy to see why the story took off like wildfire.
But just as quickly as it sprung, it also died down thanks to the Seattle Seahawks win over the Denver Broncos. Why Tate decided to bring it up again, other than to clear his name is unknown, though his post on The Cauldron is a pretty solid read as he also talks about the alleged Harvin fight.
Though, I’m guessing Russell Wilson probably would have preferred Tate wait until after his season concluded to mention this.
