Eagles: Sam Bradford Best Quarterback Since Peyton Manning

You up for a laugh today? Good, because we have one courtesy of Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffery Lurie.

Back in 2010, when the Eagles were looking for a quarterback in the draft, the team had their eyes on Sam Bradford. He of course was drafted by the St. Louis Rams after a studly college career and looked destined for stardom during his rookie campaign.

Things quickly fizzled out for Bradford, who was acquired by the Eagles in a trade earlier this month, but Lurie has plenty of reason to believe in his new quarterback because Philadelphia said Sam Bradford was the best young quarterback they had seen since Peyton Manning.

Lurie said that in the 2010 draft, the Eagles evaluated Bradford as “the best young quarterback we’d seen . . . probably since Peyton Manning coming out of college.” Then Lurie watched Bradford have an “outstanding” rookie season in St. Louis with Pat Shurmur as an offensive coordinator before he was beset by injuries.

Keep in mind, this was a comment from 2010 and it doesn’t appear Lurie is still drinking that absurd koolaid, but he still seems to believe Sam Bradford is the missing piece for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Is it all legit? Or are Lurie and Chip Kelly blowing smoke in hopes of elevating Bradford’s trade value?
