Detroit Lions Have No Interest In Ray Rice

Disgraced former NFL running back Ray Rice wants a job.

One team who has been mentioned as a potential suitor are the Detroit Lions thanks to Jim Caldwell’s familiarity with Rice after the duo spent two years together with the Baltimore Ravens.

Despite that, Caldwell says he and the Lions have no interest in Ray Rice despite their need for depth in the backfield after losing Reggie Bush to the San Francisco 49ers in NFL free agency.

The Detroit Lions head coach doesn’t deny the team needs an addition running back, but it apparently won’t be Ray Rice.

One team that would make sense for Rice is the Lions. Detroit released running back Reggie Bush, and Caldwell has familiarity with Rice.

Asked if the Lions would be interested in Rice, Caldwell said Wednesday, “I don’t foresee that, to be plain and simple. There has to be a need and a fit in all areas. At this point in time, he’s not a fit for us.”

Caldwell did go on to say that Ray Rice is like family to him and hopes that he finds a job in football, but stated the Lions simply weren’t in the market for his services.

Pretty easy to see why, too.
