Denver Broncos’ Peyton Manning Contract Has No Trade Clause

Peyton Manning

The chances of the Denver Broncos ever trading Peyton Manning is slim to none, but if they ever had the idea to do such, it won’t happen. Not unless the quarterback approves a deal because according to Pro Football Talk, Peyton Manning’s Denver Broncos contract contains a no trade clause.

“When Peyton Manning gave the Broncos $4 million in base salary for 2015, he got something in return.  And not just the ability to earn the $4 million back.”

“Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Manning’s new contract contains a no-trade clause.  Which means that the Broncos (duh) can’t trade him.”

It’s an understandable request on the part of Manning as the last thing the quarterback wants is to be unwillingly moved at this stage of his career.

Of course, if the Denver Broncos were ever in the position to seek a trade for Peyton Manning, they probably have a handful of bigger issues to deal with so it’s not exactly earth shattering news. Still, it’s of interesting note.

However, Peyton Manning’s no trade clause is apparently only good for this season, so if the Denver Broncos feel like making a move next year, they’re apparently free to do so – assuming the quarterback hasn’t retired by that time.
