The Philadelphia Eagles thought they had a deal with Frank Gore. It fell through. The Philadelphia Eagles thought they had a deal with Ryan Mathews. They pulled out. The Philadelphia Eagles now have a deal with DeMarco Murray, formerly of the Dallas Cowboys, whom they signed to a five-year, $42 million dollar contract on Thursday afternoon.
Rumors about the running back signing with the Eagles were rampant over the past day and it appears Dez Bryant‘s ‘threat‘ to keep DeMarco Murray with the Cowboys wasn’t good enough as the running back will now head to their NFC East rival.
DeMarco Murray’s deal with Eagles is expected to be 5 years, $42 million, including $21 million guaranteed, per @mortreport and I.

Ironically enough, money owed to Dez Bryant is partly to blame for the running back’s departure out of Big D, though it’s impossible to blame him soley for DeMarco Murray leaving in free agency.
Either way, it’s going to be a difficult pill to swallow for Dallas Cowboys fans as not only do their lose their franchise running back but they also lost him to a hated foe.
As for the Philadelphia Eagles, they get their man to replace LeSean McCoy, though many in the City of Brotherly Love are probably wondering why exactly they cut ties with McCoy to bring in an equally expensive DeMarco Murray.
