DeMarco Murray Given Lowball Offer From Dallas Cowboys?

DeMarco Murray

Earlier today there was a suggestion that DeMarco Murray may not be back with the Dallas Cowboys come the start of the 2015 season.

A free agent to be, Murray will have plenty of options elsewhere though one would assume the Cowboys would like their franchise running back to return. They probably won’t make any friends with lowball offers however, something they reportedly may have done.

According to NFL scribe Ian Rapoport, via Chris Wesseling, Murray has a $16 million dollar contract offer on the table from the Boys – certainly a bit insulting if you’re Murray.

Keep in mind, this is the full contract, not $16 million dollars in guaranteed money for a player who just broke the franchise record for most rushing yards in a season.

On the flip side, it’s almost hard to blame the Cowboys for making such an offer given their salary cap woes and the depth at the running back position in both the draft and free agency.

Still, you have to imagine DeMarco Murray was none too happy to hear that’s the type of dollars the Dallas Cowboys are willing to commit to the NFL’s leading rusher.

Plus, $16 million dollars can buy a lot of spray tans….
