Good news if you’re a Dallas Cowboys fan? They signed running back Darren McFadden as a ‘home run’ backup. The bad news if you’re a Dallas Cowboys fan? They signed Darren McFadden.
A star coming out of Arkansas in 2008, Darren McFadden hasn’t exactly transferred his success to the NFL but he still remains a talented football player when he’s on the field. Only problem? Staying there has proven to be a challenge as the former Oakland Raiders running back is a human splint.
One of the most injury prone players in the NFL, McFadden has had an awful time staying on the football field but the hope is that playing a backup role will keep the running back a bit more healthy and provide some insurance for the recently departed DeMarco Murray.
#Cowboys began entertaining idea of signing Darren McFadden weeks ago, & design was as a home run hitting backup. Not sure that has changed.

With Darren McFadden entrenched as the backup, that leaves the Dallas Cowboys with two options – either sign another running back in free agency or pick up a player in the draft. The latter of the two is the more likely scenario as they’ll be cheaper and more talented than what is left in the open market.
