Browns Attempted Trade For Redskins Kirk Cousins

Kirk Cousins

The Cleveland Browns attempted to trade for Washington Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins.

Before the Cleveland Browns selected Johnny Manziel in the 2014 NFL Draft, they had their eyes on another quarterback. But can you guess who?

If you suggested Washington Redskins signal caller Kirk Cousins, you’d be correct as according to the Washington Post, last offseason the Browns offered the Redskins a fourth-round pick in exchange for Cousins.

Washington politely declined however as they weren’t willing to lower their asking price beyond a second-round pick.

The Redskins also must ask themselves what kind of value they see in Cousins, and what worth other teams have placed in him. The team explored trade possibilities last offseason, but the Cleveland Browns declined to offer anything more than a fourth-round pick. The Redskins wanted a second-rounder.

A second-round draft pick for Kirk Cousins is an extremely high asking price and it’s easy to see why the Browns decided to go in a different direction, though it remains to be seen if drafting Johnny Manziel was the correct choice.

Regardless, the Redskins might be wishing they would have taken that fourth-round pick for Cousins at this point considering how volatile their quarterback situation currently is.

Maybe the Browns should have went for Robert Griffin III instead considering the Redskins can’t ship RGIII out of town quickly enough.
