Could 49ers Trade Colin Kaepernick To New York Jets?

Colin Kaepernick

We’ve already heard the Colin Kaepernick trade rumors swirling. They’ve taken place multiple times during the offseason, the most recent rumblings coming from ESPN’s John Clayton.

For now, it appears as if the San Francisco 49ers will let the season play out and see how well their quarterback plays. But if he struggles, or the 49ers stumble out of the gate, which many expect, a Colin Kaepernick trade could be possible down the line.

But to whom?

Might the New York Jets have interest in a Colin Kaepernick trade? That’s the thinking of The Big Lead:

The Jets Top 15 pick in the 2016 draft (it might be Top 10, depends just how bad Geno Smith is) and Muhammad Wilkerson (who fills the Justin Smith void) is a good jumping off point. The Jets might have to toss in one more middle-round pick to make it work.

TBL also notes the Cleveland Browns, Washington Redskins and Philadelphia Eagles as three additional teams who could attempt a Colin Kaepernick trade if the 49ers were to put their former Pro Bowl quarterback on the trade block.

Again, this appears to be more of ‘what if’ scenario, though, where there is smoke there is often fire.
