Thunder Rumors: Could OKC Trade Reggie Jackson For Brook Lopez?

Brook Lopez

Despite a history of significant injury and hefty contract, the Brooklyn Nets appear to feel as if center Brook Lopez has a ton of trade value. They have already discussed a deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder, though the potential trade fell apart after the Nets felt they weren’t getting enough in return.

It’s likely the two teams will discuss such a deal yet again before the NBA’s trade deadline and HoopsRumors wonders if OKC will dangle Reggie Jackson to Brooklyn at that time.

The Nets, with whom the Thunder had serious talks regarding Brook Lopez, provide a better avenue. Brooklyn reportedly left negotiations with Oklahoma City unwilling to give up Lopez for a package with Kendrick Perkins as its centerpiece, but Jackson and Perkins together might make the Nets think again.

While Reggie Jackson might have a higher ceiling than Brook Lopez and thus be valued more, he’s also a rental player who could bolt in free agency which will put a hefty dent into his trade value. More than that, the only reason the Thunder would make such a deal is if they didn’t have any plans to re-sign Reggie Jackson, which at this point seems up in the air.

Lopez would certainly be a solid grab for the Thunder but at the expenditure of Reggie Jackson, it’s a move that would likely have many fans frustrated, at least initially.
