Tayshaun Prince Does Not Want To Play For Detroit Pistons

Tayshaun Prince does not want to play for the Detroit Pistons.

On Saturday, Detroit Pistons head coach Stan Van Gundy suggested that Tayshaun Prince wasn’t overly thrilled with his trade to Motown, though also hinted he wasn’t angry either.

Apparently that was a little bit of a bluff on Van Gundy’s part as Tayshaun Prince doesn’t want to play for the Detroit Pistons and wants his contract bought out, this according to CBS Sports.

Prince, who was traded by the Boston Celtics to the Pistons just moments before the NBA trade deadline was to expire made a name for himself in Motown earlier in his career but apparently doesn’t want to play basketball there again.

“The reason Boston made the trade is to save money,” said Van Gundy, the Pistons coach and team president. “We’re paying Tayshaun more money. If he was going to get bought out, he should have done it in Boston. They should let him be bought out. That’s not on me to buy him out. That’s not part of the deal.

“We weren’t told of this until after we made the trade by Tayshaun’s agent. Why would we trade guys who are making less money to take on more money to waive him? That would have been the dumbest personnel move ever.

Tayshaun Prince simply wants to join a contender and doesn’t feel the Detroit Pistons are a legit threat to make an NBA title run this season. It’s understandable though you’d have thought the two sides would have figured something out before the trade was completed.
