In a NBA free agent pursuit that could only be topped by LeBron James‘ infamous ‘Decision’, the long-awaited LaMarcus Aldridge sweepstakes is over.
That’s because LaMarcus Aldridge has signed with the San Antonio Spurs, this after teasing the Los Angeles Lakers, Phoenix Suns, New York Knicks, Portland Trail Blazers and more into thinking they had a shot to sign the All-Star.
For what it’s worth, reports suggest the Phoenix Suns were the team left at the alter, though it remains to be seen just how serious Aldridge, a Texas native who was long rumored to desire playing close to home, was about the Suns.
Regardless, he’s now a member of the San Antonio Spurs and will help ease the eventual transition away from Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker. For now though, all four will be playing together and it’s safe to say, they’re probably celebrating like this in The Alamo.
