Shawn Kemp Has ‘OKC Thunder Miss NBA Playoffs Party’ In Seattle

Seattle Supersonics

When you think of the Seattle Supersonics, you think of two names – Gary Payton and Shawn Kemp.

Sure, the now defunct basketball franchise which in turn became the Oklahoma City Thunder had a lot of great talent during their time in the Emerald City, but Payton and Kemp are the two talents most associated with basketball in the Greater Northwest.

Understandably, fans of the franchise have yet to get over the Sonics ‘move’ and re-branding as the Oklahoma City Thunder and apparently neither have players either because Shawn Kemp decided to throw a ‘OKC Thunder Miss NBA Playoffs Party’ on Friday night.

A little salty? Sure. But still kind of awesome.

DJ Clinton Sparks helped out with the festivities which I’m sure were a pretty big hit in Seattle since they were celebrating Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook‘s Thunder missing the NBA playoffs.

Of course, had Durant and Westbrook been healthy for most of the year it’s a party Kemp and company wouldn’t have been able to have, so they took the opportunity while they could I guess.

Sure would be nice if Seattle could get a replacement for the Sonics because they would have one epic rivalry with the Oklahoma City Thunder given the previous wounds.

And the best part of it all? Even if nobody showed up, Shawn Kemp could have invited his kids and still had a huge turn out.
