Since the dawn of the NBA – or at least the modern NBA as we know it – basketball players have wanted to be rappers and rappers have wanted to be basketball players.

From Kobe Bryant to Shaquille O’Neal to Allen Iverson, most have tried their hand at the art of music only to fall flat on their face. One of the few who’ve actually turned their hobby into a profession is Joe Smith, but the successful hip hop acts are few and far between.

That’s something Sacramento Kings guard Ben McLemore is hoping to change because the shooting guard has just released a single ‘Intro’ to what what expect will be a rap album.

McLemore, a former Kansas Jayhawk, is featured on the tune with Young Sav and while we don’t have the full audio and visuals yet, what we do have is pretty solid.

While perhaps not an Emimem lyrically or Big L from a flow standpoint, there’s no denying that Ben McLemore is certainly one of the best sounding NBA rappers we’ve heard in quite some time.

Sounds like you may have some competition, Joe Smith.

Should be interesting to see if the Kings let their young guard rhyme a few bars before or after a game this season.

I've written on a lot of your favorite websites while I live in my mother's basement. If you only knew what a hard time I'm having holding these alligators down. Woo. | Twitter: @GuyHut | FB: @GuyHutSports
