Reggie Jackson Trade Rumors: Knicks, Lakers, Kings Interested

Reggie Jackson

When the Oklahoma City Thunder acquired Dion Waiters in a trade from the Cleveland Cavaliers, the writing appeared to be on the wall for Reggie Jackson. The Thunder guard is set to become a free agent this offseason and has expressed a desire to become a starter. That’s unlikely to happen in OKC which has teams like the New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers and Sacramento Kings interested in acquiring the swingman in a trade.

Alex Kennedy of Basketball Insiders hints all three of those teams (and possibly more) will have interest in obtaining Reggie Jackson before February’s NBA trade deadline.

I think the Knicks and Lakers are two teams that will show interest because they’d love to have Jackson as part of their long-term plan, but neither team has great assets to make a deal happen. The Kings are an interesting team to watch in this, as they have been very aggressive under Pete D’Alessandro and have been after some point guards in trade talks (Rajon Rondo, Deron Williams, etc.).

The Brooklyn Nets have also been another team rumored to be interested in obtaining Reggie Jackson, so it appears safe to say the Oklahoma City Thunder will have their choice of suitors when it comes to a trade partner.

As for the three mentioned teams, the Kings likely have the best assets to make a move in hopes of placing Jackson alongside DeMarcus Cousins, while Kobe Bryant‘s Lakers and Carmelo Anthony‘s Knicks have little outside of cap space deals.
