Phil Jackson Jokes He Destroyed The New York Knicks

New York Knicks

There’s no denying that Phil Jackson is one of the best basketball coaches in the history of the game. Of course, some might argue the fact he had Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O’Neal, Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen alongside him (not to mention fellow legendary coaches like Tex Winter) for the ride.

That said, the rings speak for themselves. Of course, just because you’re a good coach doesn’t mean the success will translate into a front office role. That’s something Phil Jackson is currently experiencing with the New York Knicks as the president of the Big Apple basketball franchise is struggling.

He apparently still has a sense of humor however as Phil Jackson jokingly suggested that he has destroyed Carmelo Anthony‘s New York Knicks.

“[Taking over the Knicks] is not something I really wanted to do,” he said, “it’s something that my partner [Jeanie Buss] said, ‘You’re sitting on all this information. Come on out and destroy a basketball team that you love.’ So that’s what I’ve done.”

That was a joke, right? Right?! RIGHT?! Assuming it to be so, I’m guessing Knicks fans won’t be laughing too hard over it.

Can’t help but wonder if Phil wishes he would have stayed in Montana at this point.
