While the Oklahoma City Thunder are apparently more than open to trading players like Kendrick Perkins and Reggie Jackson, one player who will be staying with the franchise for the next few seasons is forward Nick Collison.
That’s because the former Kansas talent signed a two-year contract extension with the Thunder on Tuesday morning.

Yahoo Sports’ Marc J. Spears confirmed it to be a two-year deal:

Worth a reported $8 million dollars, it’s a pretty fair market value contract for Nick Collison who compliments the stardom of players like Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook very well.
Not a player who needs the ball to be successful, there was little reason for the Thunder to part ways with Collison considering he’s very much a “glue” type player and one who knows his role.
More than an on-court presence, Nick Collison also brings veteran leadership to the Oklahoma City Thunder locker room, something that can’t always be matched with a dollar amount.
It’s by no stretch a blockbuster move or decision, but it’s one that will continue to make OKC a better team long-term and won’t impact them negatively financially.
