Knicks Want DeAndre Jordan To Be Second Option Behind Carmelo

DeAndre Jordan

The New York Knicks don’t scare anybody right now with just Carmelo Anthony, but what about with Melo and DeAndre Jordan?

While the defensive stud is said to be mostly focused on the LA Clippers and Dallas Mavericks in NBA free agency, the New York Knicks want in. But how are they going to compete with two teams who believe they’re in contention for an NBA title?

Well, according to ESPN they’re going to try and sell DeAndre Jordan on being their second offensive option behind Carmelo Anthony.

New York’s pitch to Jordan will be that he would be the team’s second option behind Anthony, as opposed to the third option he currently is with the Clippers behind Chris Paul and Blake Griffin. Sources say that is an important distinction to Jordan.

The Knicks will also emphasize that in the Eastern Conference, the road to becoming an All-Star and a playoff team is much less clogged than in the West.

I have to admit, it’s a pretty solid pitch, but Phil Jackson and the New York Knicks can’t be serious, can they? DeAndre Jordan does a lot of things well, but being an offensive force is not one of them.

Of course, all they need to do is get him to sign on the dotted line, so whatever it takes, apparently.
