NBA Trade Rumors: Lakers Interested In Enes Kanter?

Enes Kanter

NBA Trade Rumors: The Lakers are interested in Utah Jazz center Enes Kanter.

In case you missed it last week, Utah Jazz big man Enes Kanter wants out.

The former third overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft is unhappy with his role in Utah and has requested a trade. Multiple teams are said to be interested in the former Kentucky star, including the Los Angeles Lakers who could attempt to trade for the center.

That’s the word from Grantland, though Zach Lowe does seem to believe a Jazz-Lakers swap involving Enes Kanter is a bit of a long shot.

The Lakers are intriguing but could chase Kanter in restricted free agency — a game the Lakers usually sit out.

It appears the biggest issue would be Los Angeles’ lack of assets. While the Jazz may want to wash their hands of Enes Kanter, they’re not going to just give him away and outside of their looming lottery pick the Lakers aren’t exactly overflowing with tradeable pieces.

On the flip side, it would seem giving up that said lotto pick would be far too costly for the Lakers and given Enes Kanter will hit restricted free agency, it’s much too large of a risk for Los Angeles.

So while they have trade interest in the big man, it appears a deal is unlikely barring some type of multi-team trade.
