Zach LaVine Dunk Contest

NBA All Star 2015: Zach LaVine wins Slam Dunk Contest.

While Zach LaVine wasn’t a household name coming into the 2015 NBA All-Star Slam Dunk Contest, most who watched the game on a regular basis believed the Minnesota Timberwolves rookie had a good chance to bring home the trophy.

They were right as the 19-year-old not only won the competition, but did so in emphatic fashion, destroying all in his wake.

Keep in mind, Victor Oladipo of the Orlando Magic had some really good dunks that would have likely won the NBA Slam Dunk Contest in a normal year, but Zach LaVine was nothing short of absurd.

Not only did the high-flying guard throw down some jaw-dropping slams, but during his first two rounds, he did so on his first attempt. Some of the judges, like Dr. J, couldn’t help but look on in shock as the Barclays Center crowd erupted after Zach LaVine put his freakish athletic ability on display.

Zach LaVine’s dunks were beautiful at any speed, but watch them in slow motion below and you’ll come away with even more respect for what the former UCLA product was able to accomplish.

Was it on the same level as Vince Carter, who many believe to be the king of the dunk contest? That might be a tough sell though there’s no denying Zach LaVine winning the 2015 NBA Slam Dunk Contest was one of the best individual performances we’ve ever seen.
