For months – actually more like years – there have been rumors suggesting the Minnesota Timberwolves may trade point guard Ricky Rubio.
Doing such seems questionable, especially at this stage of the T’Wolves’ growth, but alas the rumors continue to leak out.
Much of that could be contributed potentially to his agent, who would probably prefer Rubio playing in a larger market and teams like the New York Knicks who’ve expressed serious interest in the Spaniard.
Despite that, Rubio says he doesn’t listen to the trade rumors though understands it’s possible that he could be traded at some point.
“I have confidence that the team wants me, but you know in this league anybody can get traded,” said the flashy playmaker. “You don’t listen to the rumours. You just live day-by-day and that’s it.”
When asked if he wanted to stay with the long-suffering Timberwolves, Rubio gave a firm: “Yes.”
With Andrew Wiggins in town and Zach LaVine looking like a draft steal, a pass-first point guard like Rubio seems to be exactly what the Minnesota Timberwolves need, so while a trade isn’t completely out of the question you’d have to assume the Wolves would need to be blown away in a trade offer to make any type of deal.
