NBA Rumors: Rajon Rondo Could Sign With Kings?

Rajon Rondo

Remember a few months back when the Boston Celtics were attempting to trade Rajon Rondo and the former All-Star point guard wasn’t interested in playing for the Sacramento Kings despite their desire to acquire the former Kentucky star?

How a few months can change things.

Rondo, who was traded to the Dallas Mavericks, has all been banned from the state of Texas and now will enter NBA free agency looking for a home. The Los Angeles Lakers have been rumored to have interest in Rajon Rondo, but the Sacramento Kings could potentially lead the pack for his services – at least according to NBA rumors.

Per Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe:

A darkhorse location for Rajon Rondo in free agency is Sacramento, where the Kings are entering a pivotal year in their franchise and could use a bona fide point guard. Darren Collison, coming off hip surgery, is the team’s scheduled starter for next season. Rondo, who didn’t appear interested in going to the Kings a few years ago, could use the club as a springboard to perhaps a larger contract if he signs a one-year deal. Rondo is also close friends with Kings forward Rudy Gay.

Rondo does of course have some mild relationship with DeMarcus Cousins given their college ties in addition to the previously mentioned Rudy Gay. Still, its questionable to think a team like the Kings would risk signing Rondo after he essentially wore out his welcome in two cities, but stranger things have happened and you never know what’s to come from Sacramento’s front office.
