NBA Rumors: Nuggets May Trade Ty Lawson To Kings For Rudy Gay

Ty Lawson

The Denver Nuggets and Ty Lawson seem to be headed for an inevitable divorce and the Sacramento Kings might want their sloppy seconds.

Sacramento’s head coach George Karl has a close knit relationship with the Nuggets point guard and there are NBA rumors hinting the two sides could agree on a deal.

Per ESPN, the Nuggets could trade Ty Lawson to the Kings in exchange for Rudy Gay.

A source told Broussard that Karl is interested in Nuggets point guard Ty Lawson. If the Kings owner eventually allows Karl to trade Cousins, Denver also might be a strong suitor for Cousins, though a source told Broussard that Karl would consider trading forward Rudy Gay for Lawson.

Gay, who recently re-signed with the Kings, has what many would consider to be a team friendly contract with the NBA salary cap set to expand and could be a solid fit for the Nuggets. However, Denver is likely looking to rebuild though they may not get anything in comparable talent for Lawson, who not only has been known to rub his coaches the wrong way, but has seen a mild decline in play.

As of right now, no trade is imminent and will likely hedge on what happens with the DeMarcus Cousins rumors.
