NBA Rumors: Knicks Interested In Ricky Rubio Trade?

New York Knicks

Late last week, news broke suggesting the Minnesota Timberwolves would potentially be open to a Ricky Rubio trade.

The Sacramento Kings and Dallas Mavericks were two teams immediately suggested as potential trade partners, but there could be another team with interest in the point guard.

Yes, it’s the New York Knicks.

In desperate need of a point guard and playmaker, Ricky Rubio would be a solid fit for the New York Knicks and Phil Jackson and company could potentially make a play for the Spaniard, assuming the price is right.

Nevertheless, Rubio seems to be a perfect fit in Phil Jacksons’ triangle offense because of his incredible court vision, not to mention he would be a terrific facilitator for high-scoring forward Carmelo Anthony. At this point of his career, Rubio clearly doesn’t want to wait another 2 or 3 years to make a serious run at the title. So do the Knicks who are banking on a good offseason to get themselves back on a right track.

While I wouldn’t say Rubio is a perfect fit for the triangle, given his lack of a jumper, he does help fill a handful of holes for the Knicks. Of course, a Ricky Rubio trade will not come cheaply and it’s hard to envision the Knicks trading away the No. 4 pick for the point guard unless they’re able to obtain another lottery pick (the Wolves own the No. 31 and 36 picks).
