NBA Rumors: Nets, Hornets Talk Joe Johnson, Lance Stephenson Trade

Lance Stephenson

Although there are some who believe the Indiana Pacers make the most sense for a Lance Stephenson trade, the Brooklyn Nets apparently disagree. That’s because they’ve apparently rekindled trade talks with the Charlotte Hornets in exchange for Lance Stephenson.

That’s the word from Yahoo Sports who says the two teams are discussing a Johnson/Stephenson swap.

The Charlotte Hornets and Brooklyn Nets have restarted trade discussions, this time focused on guard Joe Johnson, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

The Hornets and Nets are discussing a larger package that would likely include guards Lance Stephenson and Gerald Henderson and forward Marvin Williams, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

If this sounds somewhat familiar, that’s because it should. Just a few weeks ago the Nets and Hornets were rumored to be involved in a three-team trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder in which OKC would have obtained Brook Lopez in such a deal. However Brooklyn pulled out as they didn’t feel their return was adequate.

It was also said the Nets weren’t overly interested in Lance Stephenson at the time, though moving Joe Johnson off their roster (along with his contract) may have sparked Brooklyn’s interest in such.

No deal is imminent though it does sound as if there are serious discussions taking place.
