After LaMarcus Aldridge put his Portland home up for sale, many suggested his time with the Trail Blazers was over.
A Texas native, it was expected that the San Antonio Spurs would attempt to sign the All-Star to replace Tim Duncan, but it’s another Texas team who is likely to enter into the free agent bidding.
Yes, Mark Cuban’s Dallas Mavericks will try and sign LaMarcus Aldridge.
Earlier in the day, Monta Ellis opted out of the final year of his contract leaving the Mavs with some available cash which they will now attempt to lure Aldridge with.
That should allow them to pursue LaMarcus Aldridge and also have room to re-sign Tyson Chandler. That would be a pretty salty front line.

With Dirk Nowitzki also getting up there in age, the Mavs need to replace their aging franchise superstar as much as the Spurs and you aren’t going to find much better on the open market than Aldridge.
Of course, the Mavericks aren’t going to be the only NBA team with money to spend, though, given their locale you have to think they’re among the favorites to sign the former Longhorn.
Should be an interesting NBA free agent period.
