NBA Rumors: LaMarcus Aldridge Likes Spurs, Mavericks; Lakers, Knicks Maybe

LaMarcus Aldridge

There has been growing concern out of the Portland Trail Blazers organization suggesting free agent to be LaMarcus Aldridge could be on his way out.

Even an unnamed teammate of Aldridge suggested he thought there was a good chance the Texas native would leave.

Now NBA rumors are suggesting it’s Tim Duncan‘s San Antonio Spurs and Dirk Nowitzki‘s Dallas Mavericks who top his free agent wishlist.

Per ESPN’s Marc Stein:

Does LaMarcus Aldridge, even accounting for his Dallas upbringing, really want to go home to North Texas or down to South Texas, where he’d essentially be casting himself as the heir apparent to either Dirk Nowitzki orTim Duncan? Wouldn’t he be putting himself in some awfully challenging circumstances to try to live up to the legacies of either of those certifiable legends?

Answer: We’re hearing Aldridge connected to both of those teams so frequently that you can only conclude that neither idea scares him.

Stein goes on to suggest it’s the Spurs who currently are the favorite for LaMarcus Aldridge’s services, though notes both Kobe Bryant‘s Los Angeles Lakers and Carmelo Anthony‘s New York Knicks will want to put their foot in the bidding as well.

Either way, it sounds like the Portland Trail Blazers are going to have their hands full in their attempts to retain their franchise basketball star.
