NBA Rumors: Lakers Could Sign LaMarcus Aldridge

LaMarcus Aldridge

While there has been no solid evidence as to LaMarcus Aldridge leaving the Portland Trail Blazers in NBA free agency (yet), the All-Star big man did recently put his home up for sale leading to speculation that he’ll possibly depart from the only basketball franchise he’s ever known.

Both the Dallas Mavericks and San Antonio Spurs have been linked as suitors for Aldridge given their Texas ties, but there’s another team said to be in the mix for his services.

None other than Kobe Bryant‘s Lakers.

Yes, the Los Angeles Lakers are interested in signing LaMarcus Aldridge and could have a chance, this according to Ric Bucher of Bleacher Report. However, they’re said to be a distant third behind the previously two mentioned teams in the Spurs and Mavs.

“I’m hearing the possibility of the L.A. Lakers, although I believe that is a distant third at this point,” stated Bucher.

The Los Angeles Lakers do have about $23 million dollars in cap space, so they can easily offer LaMarcus Aldridge a max contract. It’s not known if they’d be willing to do so or even if Aldridge would be open to playing in Hollywood.

Either way, it sounds like the Lakers are players – even if it’s from a distance.
