NBA Rumors: Kings, George Karl Nearing Head Coach Deal?

George Karl

Might the Sacramento Kings have another new head coach in the near future? It’s possible as according to the Sacramento Bee, the Kings and George Karl are said to be having serious conversations about one of the most successful coaches in NBA history making his way to the California capital.

As you may recall, earlier in the season the Kings oddly fired then head coach Michael Malone, replacing him with Ty Corbin in an interim role. That hasn’t worked out very well and a near fan revolt had lead Vivek Ranadive and company to seek changes.

The Kings are engaged in intense conversations with George Karl about their head coaching position, multiple sources have told The Bee.

Star center DeMarcus Cousins ripped the team earlier this week, questioning the effort of his teammates (who deserved to be thrown into the wood chipper). Given that, there’s a clear sense of urgency in Sacramento to get a new head coach on the sidelines considering the Kings’ struggles.

The Orlando Magic are also said to be interested in hiring George Karl, which could be part of the reason the Kings are rushing to get a deal done with the former Seattle Supersonics and Denver Nuggets head coach.
