NBA Rumors: Greg Monroe Likely To Sign With Knicks Or Celtics

Greg Monroe

With the Detroit Pistons most recent trade, the writing is essentially on the wall for Greg Monroe in Motown. A return isn’t likely. That has made Monroe one of the most in-demand, soon-to-be NBA free agents and a handful of teams are said to be waiting to offer the former Georgetown product a hefty deal.

That could include the New York Knicks and Boston Celtics, who are said to be two of the teams with the most interest in the big man.

According to Bucks Beat, Beantown or the Big Apple are the most likely landing spot for Greg Monroe:

However, he could be the Pistons’ full-time starter as veteran Greg Monroe will become an unrestricted free agent on July 1. There is strong speculation Monroe will sign with either New York or Boston.

Both the Knicks and Celtics could use Greg Monroe who would bring a solid inside game to both squads, though, he’s said to be commanding franchise player money – the max. That’s a pretty risky proposition for any team, let alone a team like the Knicks and Celtics who need more than just one decent piece to build their roster into a contender.

The Los Angeles Lakers have also been mentioned as a potential suitor for Greg Monroe.
