NBA Rumors: Dwyane Wade To Opt Out Of Miami Heat Contract?

Dwyane Wade

On Sunday evening, Dwyane Wade made an appearance on ABC during the pre-game show for Game 2 of the NBA Finals. The Miami Heat star didn’t talk much about his contractual issues, though, there was a brief moment when he discussed his future plans.

Those apparently seem to indicate that he’s going to opt out of his contract with the Miami Heat.

Ira Winderman transcribed Wade’s brief though rather telling interview.

“Well, listen, it’s summer time,” Wade said when asked about his contract. “So when summer time and free agency [come together], it’s going to be a lot of talk. And right now, I’m glad that the Finals is going and we’re here.

“And we’ll worry about that in July. Right now, we’re going to focus on these Finals.”

Previously, Dwyane Wade has suggested that he planned to opt-in to his contract, so perhaps there has been a change of heart. He has until June 29th to make the decision, so it’s possible he’ll change his mind again.

Either way, the contractual stalemate between Dwyane Wade and the Miami Heat doesn’t look as if it will be going away in the near future and the once tight bond appears to be slowly falling apart.
