For years there have been whispers suggesting LaMarcus Aldridge may leave the Portland Trail Blazers in free agency.
The power forward has routinely suggested otherwise and says he’s committed to the franchise, so the basketball organization and their fans have little reason to worry, right? Apaprently not, as according to the Oregonian, there are multiple teammates of LaMarcus Aldridge who believe the All-Star could be gearing up to leave the team in free agency.
Some even feel the odds of Aldridge returning to the Blazers next season are 50-50 at best:
Some Blazers players have already said they are worried free agency will take Aldridge away from Portland this summer. Earlier this month, before a home game, a Blazers player estimated the chances of him returning to Portland at 50-50.
The fact that some of Aldrige’s teammates believe he’ll depart has to be concerning as it’s coming from guys who are around him on a daily basis and know him much more intimately than a reporter.
Perhaps much of what will take place in the future will be decided with the Blazers first-round playoff series as an early exit probably will leave a bad taste in LaMarcus Aldridge’s mouth.
Keep in mind, Portland has the ability to pay their franchise big man more money and offer more years than any other basketball team out there, so he’d be leaving a lot of money on the table by walking.
