NBA Finals: Allen Iverson Stepped Over Tyronn Lue Today

Allen Iverson

It may seem hard to believe, but 14-years-ago today, Allen Iverson stepped over Tyronn Lue in one of the most memorable plays in NBA Finals history.

Going up against a vastly superior Los Angeles Lakers team lead by Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant, the pint-sized Allen Iverson not only put on a historic show in Game 1 but also lead his Philadelphia 76ers to an unexpected victory.

It of course proved to be the Sixers only win in the series as Shaq and company stormed back winning the next four games, but the play and embarrassing moment for Tyronn Lue forever lives on.

For those young enough not to remember the moment, Iverson was on his way to a 48-point game though Phil Jackson and company decided to put Lue on Iverson in hopes of slowing him down. An ‘Allen Iverson stopper’ if you will.

A.I. didn’t take too kindly to such and promptly gave Lue the business, not only statistically but after crossing him up, stepped directly over the top of him in one of the most boss moves in NBA history.

To this day it’s still a clip you’ll see in NBA Finals montages and I have no doubt it will continue to be throw in the mix of the NBA’s most memorable plays.

I've written on a lot of your favorite websites while I live in my mother's basement. If you only knew what a hard time I'm having holding these alligators down. Woo. | Twitter: @GuyHut | FB: @GuyHutSports
