When you think of the Los Angeles Clippers, the first three names that come to mind are Chris Paul, Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan. Matt Barnes wouldn’t top your list of Clippers basketball players, though he certainly seems to think he’s pretty important.
The veteran journeyman who appeared on VH1’s Basketball Wives has become famous, not so much for his game, but for his mouth. He’s routinely finding his foot inside of it, much like his recent jab at San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick in which he called the signal caller a ‘hoe’.
Barnes, a Sacramento native, went on Instagram to congratulate Arik Armstead, another Sacramento native who was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday night with their first-round pick.
He finished off the congrats though with a shot at Armstead’s new teammate, ripping Colin Kaepernick with a clear shot.
Perhaps it was nothing more than a friendly jab though, right? Given their Northern California ties? Not in the least bit according to TMZ:
Multiple sources close to Matt tell us the beef with Kaepernick goes back several years — and stems from a situation where Matt felt “disrespected” by Colin.
As one source extremely close to Barnes puts it — “Matt hates his guts.”
Yikes.
