Marcus Smart Ejected For Punch To Matt Bonner’s Groin (Video)

Marcus Smart Punch

Look, nobody wants to be on the wrong end of a Turkey Tap, but that’s exactly what San Antonio Spurs forward Matt Bonner was dealing with on Friday night after Marcus Smart of the Boston Celtics got a little too close for comfort.

It all went down in the middle of the fourth quarter with the Spurs holding a commanding lead.

Smart attempted to fight through a Bonner screen when his had lowered and appeared to hit the veteran in his groin. You could see the forward jump back after the impact as Smart attempted to play on before the referee blew his whistle.

The end result? Marcus Smart was ejected for the ‘punch’ to Matt Bonner’s groin.

Of course, if you blinked, you might have missed the shot to the nuts because it was pretty subtle and I’m shocked the ref picked up on it considering they can’t even properly call a foul call correctly half of the time.

Was it an ejectable offense though? By rule, yes. There looked to be some intent there. Of course, I’m sure Marcus Smart is wishing he would have went for the full groin punch instead of trying to keep it on the low considering it cost him the remainder of the game (and a hefty fine to come).

I've written on a lot of your favorite websites while I live in my mother's basement. If you only knew what a hard time I'm having holding these alligators down. Woo. | Twitter: @GuyHut | FB: @GuyHutSports
