LeBron James Sent Care Package To Spelling Bee Champ

LeBron James

I don’t know about you, but the last time I watched a spelling bee was probably around never.

But apparently, Gokul Venkatachalam (is that a word in the contest?!) who won the most recent National Spelling Bee is a huge LeBron James fan. In fact, he not only stated that he was ‘taking his talents to the National Spelling Bee’, an homage to his favorite player when he originally left the Cleveland Cavaliers to sign with the Miami Heat, he actually wore King James’ jersey under his shirt during the contest.

The Cavs star and NBA icon got word of such and decided to send the National Spelling Bee champ a small care package that included not one, but two pairs of LeBron James’ signature shoe. And of course, they were autographed and personalized.

Say what you will about LeBron James, the guy gets it. There are plenty of other basketball stars who very well would have done the same thing, but King James could have completely ignored this and continued on with his daily life, but instead took a moment out to praise a young fan and his desire for education.

Well done.

I've written on a lot of your favorite websites while I live in my mother's basement. If you only knew what a hard time I'm having holding these alligators down. Woo. | Twitter: @GuyHut | FB: @GuyHutSports
