LeBron James: I Wanted To Be Allen Iverson

LeBron James

While there have been a lot of amazing talents to step on a basketball court, there’s only one player who has the eye of LeBron James.

No, it’s not Michael Jordan. Nope, not Magic Johnson or Larry Bird either. Heck, it wasn’t even Kobe Bryant.

It was The Answer. Yes, Allen Iverson was the apple in LeBron James’ basketball heart as the Cleveland Cavaliers star says he wanted to be Allen Iverson when he was younger.

“I didn’t want to be Michael or Magic,” says LeBron James. “I wanted to be Allen Iverson.”

This of course shouldn’t come as a shock as James grew up during Iverson’s prime and Bubba Chuck was about as popular as one was going to get. Some even believe that pound-for-pound, Allen Iverson is the greatest NBA player to ever live.

There’s an argument for such, both ways, but there’s no denying that AI made one of the biggest impacts in NBA history, both on and off the court as his style and flair changed the way the professional basketball was looked at and played.

Given that, we can’t blame LeBron James for wanting to be Allen Iverson because we did too.

Everybody did.

For a time period in the late 1990’s and early 2000’s, Allen Iverson was the man.

I've written on a lot of your favorite websites while I live in my mother's basement. If you only knew what a hard time I'm having holding these alligators down. Woo. | Twitter: @GuyHut | FB: @GuyHutSports
